July 1, 2010 – Kansas City, Mo-- Sizewise, a growing and diversified medical manufacturer, today announced that it will double its Kansas manufacturing capability with the acquisition of a new manufacturing plant in Hays, Kan. – bringing the total number of U.S.-owned and operated plants to four for the Kansas City, Mo.-headquartered company.
Sizewise, a privately held company, manufactures medical equipment ranging from hospital bed frames and specialized mattresses to wheelchairs and other devices that assist in the healing of patients in hospitals, long-term care facilities or at home. Sizewise develops holistic approaches in serving the needs of all patient populations including geriatric, bariatric and pediatric as well as providing unique mattresses in support of injured soldiers coming home to VA hospitals. The company began its 20-year history specializing in bariatric medical equipment and has experienced growth alongside the obesity epidemic in America, but now serves standard patient populations as well in the U.S. and internationally.
“Keeping our production at the highest quality possible is critical given the products we manufacture and the customers we serve,” said Brian Frickey, executive manufacturing officer at Sizewise. “We believe strongly that maintaining local control over quality is in the best interest of the patients and caregivers we serve.”
The 81,000-square foot expansion in Hays is part of a three-building, 17-acre total purchase. Sizewise currently operates two manufacturing plants in Ellis, Kan., and will continue to do so.
“Sizewise continues to hire and expand both nationally and internationally, and we expect our new facility to generate local jobs over time as the plant becomes fully operational in early 2011,” added Brad Frickey, executive manufacturing officer at Sizewise.
